Hi,
Someone recommended that I visit this forum for some help.
My problem is that it is taking a long time to complete the burn. It takes 10-12 minutes to burn an 80 minute cd.
-I just purchased a new Memorex 52/32/52 CD/DVD burner and loaded Nero 6.0
-I am attempting to burn .wav music files to CD from my hard drive
-My discs are 52x
-The software says it is burning at 52x
- I have Dell and am running XP
-Previously, I was using Sonic Record Now to burn and had some issues then.
But, it still takes a long time. Shouldn't it be going a bit quicker?
I'd love it if someone might be able to respond with some suggestions.
Thanks!
Check if your drive is in DMA mode.
The drive is in DMA. I read somewhere that you need to check and make sure Nero is in DMA as well. Of course, I couldn't figure out how to do that.
What are your specs? If you also had problems with another program it sounds like a system issue not a software issue. I don't get true 40x burning with my 3 year old system. I get around 32x..even thoug it says 40x. Another thing I experienced once was a damaged HD that slowed down my burning quite a bit. Just food for thought...it could be a number of things.
Here are some other simple things you could try:
Have you defragged your HD to see if that makes a difference?
Have you ran anti virus scans/spyware etc?
Create a new text doc and copy and paste the following into it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder]
"ShowSingleRecorderSpeed"=dword:00000001
Save as a reg file . . .
truespeed.reg
. . . for example. Double-click the file's icon to enter it into the registry and Nero will show the TRUE burn speed.
I have defragged and have run adware/spyware scans. That did not help out the speed.
How do I enter that text into the registry? I created a word document and pasted the text in there. I named it truespeed.reg. Where to I go from here?

It should be a pure Text file. So rather do it in Notepad than Word (which might all kinds of "fancy" Word document stuff to the file). One can surely use Word for text editing, but then you'd have to be sure you're saving it as text file, and of right kind of formatting, and... Just easier to get it right if done with Notepad.
To clarify: copy the text into a new notepad document. Select "Save As", choose "all files" from the type drop down box and then title it "truespeed.reg"
Now you should have a file saved as truespeed with the file extension .reg instead of truespeed.reg.txt
