Title: mp4creator60 - how to convert aac to mp4
Post by: andyrob on 2005-03-06 16:01:10
Hi

i have tried using the mp4creator60.exe to convert ADTS fromat songs into MP4 audio suing the above tool. it certainly creates the data but there is never any sound. has anybody tried this.

i used:

mp4creator60 -c=inputaacfile.aac output_test.mp4

the hex data it produces looks ok, but when i play it in QT Pro it is just silence

Try to play your file in Winamp using this [a href="http://www.rarewares.org/files/aac/in_mp4.zip]http://www.rarewares.org/files/aac/in_mp4.zip[/url]  plugin. It will ask to convert .aac to .mp4 automatically before playing.

Cheers

Hi leo

i tried what you said.

the clip i am playing is called AL00_08.aac, which is in ADTS format.
At first this played fine in winamp.
i then dropped in the dll you mentioned. Winamp would not let me play this clip anymore. it certainly converts to mp4 but when i play the converted clip it is just silence again.

i think this maybe due to the AL00_08.aac being a weird type ISO conformance type vector.

Winamp looks like a good tool anyway

Thanks

mp4creator60.exe suggests that it is an old version. MSVC project file was changed to output mp4creator.exe some versions back.

You could try:
-aac-old-file-format    Use old file format with 58 bit adts headers

Use the version of mp4creator included in the MPEG4ip tools on the rarewares web site. That version of mp4creator works ok. My problem is that I can't get it to preserve (convert, actually) ID3tags in my aac file.
