Quite a few members here have cats in their avatars, any particular reason (other than the obvious fact that cats can hear much better), or is it to symbolize to others that those members are "audiophiles"? Or is it purely coincidental that people who love music just so happen to have cat fetishes?
I have the same curiosity by to know this...

Yes, it's true; but the dogs have very good ears too, and here I can not see dogs, with exception of a very rare case...
You dont have to to have a cat fetish to love cats. Even tho, i was wondering the same thing. My favourite cat picture is Lev's.

There's a pretty much universal rule in life (yep, there are some exceptions).
Technological persons like cats.
People persons like dogs.
Thats not to say that cat lovers are useless at relationships or anything, but primarily, we are all scientific / electrical / computer / (dare I say it) geeky people! And we like cats.

I like a lot the dogs too . For me they are better friends than the people.
I like pets at friend's houses. You dont have to feed, you dont have to clean the mess, but they are there to 'visit'!
But I dont like cats, i had bad experiences. Sometimes I think they only live with you because you feed and protect them. When they come next to you, its surely for food, but you can kick a dog in the ass it still comes after you.

I met my girlfriend's parents for the first time yesterday.
While we were sitting in the lounge being introduced their pet dog started licking its balls very noisely.
They were obviously embarrassed by the situation, so to ease the awkward silence I jokingly said "Wow, I wish I could do that".
Her mother turned to me stoney faced and said, "If you give him a dog biscuit he may let you."

Absolutely agree with you on that one. I don´t know if it´s true, but I strongly feel it that way. Cats are there for the food and shelter. They are colder than dogs, they seem to have every little thing mathematically calculated. They usually don´t follow you around the house unlike dogs, unless they are hungry.
Despite all of this I changed my mind about cats. I´m having a cat at home for the first time and really it isn´t a bad guy as I thought it would.
Dogs are much more innocent and friendly for sure.
I kicked my old dog several times when I was younger and he always came back. He also showed signs of submission (like "don´t hurt me man, I respect you"), never saw a cat acting like that.

Of my cats, a particular one does follow in-house. Some of the other cats like following outside -- usually confined to the same street (they get frightened by dogs/cars), but not always.
