Title: Best LAME frontend?
Post by: EvilAaron on 2004-10-19 16:49:13
I have been using Razor Lame (RL) for the last year and find it to do what I need. But I just had to clean slate my PC last week and figured that maybe by now there is a better option out there, since RL isnt being updated anymore.

Anyone else found a new favorite? Or is RL still the best straight up pure LAME frontend?

If I needed a frontend to LAME right now, I would use foobar2000.

I haven't touched Razor Lame for a long time. I found it too complicated for such a simple task. So i use All2lame (really simple and user friendly imo)

I'm using Monkey's Audio as a LAME front-end, because after I rip my CD by EAC I'm making several adjustments to the wave files. After I do that I'm making MP3 via Monkey's Audio because I can force it to Tag my files as I wish while encoding (from the filename and folder structure). It's pretty easy and I'm fully satisfied.

I used a razorlame before as it was really simple to play with a different settings couse im not a big fan of cmd programs..
But since i installed foobar it just become natural to use it as gui encoder too.
Foobar all the way

RazorLAME. ALL2LAME is too barebones.

Hello.

Everybody needs a player on the mobo, so if you have seteled on Foobar,
why not take advantage for it`s capabileties. Foobar is a great encoder frontend.
speeks MuliFrontend is also great, for ease of use Razorlame/Winlame.

From CD's, it is EAC. From HD (wav, ape Monkey's, mpc), its Foobar.

for all of you who are still on RazorLAME: use AdvaLAME (http://advaseries.members.easyspace.com/avlame_vershist.htm) - it's a continuation of RazorLAME, with new features, and with a steady development rate.
