Title: Adobe Audition MP4/AAC Encoding Plugin
Post by: guest0101 on 2003-12-30 16:48:30
I am looking for a quality MP4/AAC encoding/decoder plugin for Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro). I am not interested in FAAC or PSYTEL based, but rather something on par with the encoders of Nero 6, Apple iTunes/Quicktime, or Compaact.

Must be able to read and write to at least MP4 audio format (AAC LC) and also preferable an option to do straight AAC.
HE AAC encoding/decoding support would be a REAL Plus!

Any help or links to plugin vendors would be appreciated. I am willing to pay for it and not looking for a freebie. Quality is more important to me than price

Thanks,

Adam

AC LLC

Hehe, after all this time people can still come up with new original typos

Seriously, the only AAC plugin I know for Cooledit/Audition is the one based on FAAC/FAAD2, haven't tried it lately, so I don't know how well it works.

have you contacted Adobe yet? maybe they have plans to obtain a licence for an en/decoder and include it in the next update

Fixed typo Menno (now stands corrected at AAC LC)

Yes I have contacted both Syntrillium (when it was still Cool Edit Pro) and now Adobe since it is rebranded as Adobe Audition. No response about MP4/AAC encoding/decoding support.

I have also posted a thread in the 3rd Party plugins section on the Adobe Audition Forum and that thread has posts from several other people wanting MP4/AAC support for Audition, just no reply from Adobe as of yet.

There appears to be a company (www.imaginetechnology.net) working on an AAC encoder/decode plugin for Adobe Audition, but they don't have it out yet, and currently (according to an E-mail I just received today from them) do not yet have MP4 support (just plain AAC files) when the plugin does get released.

I am surprised that a company doesn't offer a quality MP4/AAC encoding/decoding plugin for one of the most popular (if not the most popular) audio editing app used by both musicians and studio engineers. Hopefully one or more quality plugins will be released soon. Must have to do with the high cost barrier for getting the patent licenses for releasing a product with AAC/MP4 encoding/decoding, plus the development cost for writing and fine tuning the CODEC.

With so many quality exisiting CODECS (Dolby Consumer, Apple iTunes/Quicktime, Nero 6, Compaact) already developed and starting to become available for licensing, hopefully Nero Digital will seize upon this opportunity and release both a standalone encoder app and also a Adobe Audition/Cool Edit plugin for sale. There is a big market for both IMO.

As you may now know (but i'll update this thread anyways) is that the Nero DLLs can be used in Audition now ( http://www.saunalahti.fi/cse/files/cool_neromp4.zip (http://www.saunalahti.fi/cse/files/cool_neromp4.zip) ) thanks to Case...  as well as Adobe's own AAC plugin for it, now available and (presumably) under more development and optimizations.  =)  cheers

I was not aware of this wonderful Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition plug-in for using Nero's HE AAC/AAC LC encoder/decoder. Thanks for informing me. I just checked and rarewares does not have a link to this for the Adobe Audition plugin yet.

I hope a link to this gets put on rarewares so other people can find it. So nice to have an excellent Nero plug-in for Adobe Audition that support HE AAC.

jesseg, you mentioned Adobe's own AAC plugin. Where do I get a copy of that? Haven't seen any mention of anything other than Imagine Techology's plug-in for Adobe Audition previously.

Yes it's Imagine Technologies AAC plugin, arn't they are making it for Adobe?  (that's what i got outta the posts earlier)

Anyways, reason you havnt seen this Nero one (and no Rarewares link) is because Case just compiled it like a few days ago.
