I have a clean install of Win11 - I tried two versions of Foobar 2.00 and 2.01 Beta (portable), completely clean install, no foobar plugins. I have a huge database of music albums. After scanning my database, I can see all folders beautifully (Viewed by Folder Structure) ... the moment I turn off/turn on foobar, the whole database resets and nothing is visible and the scan begins again. I also tried disabling the Scan on start function, but even so, every time I restart Foobar the database is lost again. I have no idea how to keep my scanned database for next run of Foobar.
Thank you gyus for any suggestions. O:)
Is your foobar2000 portable directory located somewhere it has write permissions? Like, it shouldn't be within Program Files but some custom directory that the current Windows user has write permissions for.
Hi guys. So I spent all night looking for the problem. I had the idea to look in the media library - database log, where all the errors were visible. I discovered files (and there weren't many in my huge database) that were defective, unreadable (flac, mp3), so I deleted those files. And immediately the database started working. Interestingly, this problem never occurred with Foobar 1xx. Only with the new Foobar 2.xx, but at least I found out where in my music collection I have problems. Also strange is that the database normally all appeared in medialibrary, but didn't load until after restarting Foobar. BUT, as I said, I deleted a few defective files and the database works fine
cheers!
For potential debugging value:
Did you check if any error came up in Preferences -> Media Library, the "Show errors" button?
