Title: iTunes 11.1 and F2k
Post by: TylerMorrison on 2014-11-08 20:25:10
Up until today, I've had no issues with F2K and syncing my iPhone4s. Today, I tried to send one song to my iPhone and it didn't send. I tried it multiple times and with several different songs but nothing was changing on my iPhone. I've done this many times in the past and never had a problem. Upon opening iTunes, I received the following message:

"The iPhone "Tyler's iPhone" cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."

I figured that my phone was not being recognized in F2K since iTunes wasn't able to use it either, so I went and DL'd iTunes 11.1 only to find that F2K seems to be incompatible with iTunes 10.6.3 or higher, based on this forum thread: http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=100298 (http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=100298)

I went back and downloaded the most recent iTunes before 10.6.3, which is 10.6.1 (x64) and now I am back where I started with the first error message I've posted. I seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place here, as my iPhone won't be recognized without the latest version of iTunes, but F2K won't sync with my iPhone if I am using the latest version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. So sick of Apple's bs and just want to sync with F2K. Thanks all.

For one thing, this is a third party component issue. Said component is no longer being updated, so you're stuck with old iTunes. Which sounds like it's not working, because your phone was updated to a newer version of iOS.

Ok, I'll check for new iPhone syncing components for F2K then. If you know of any off hand, that'd be cool. Thanks.

If you wait for foobar2000 Mobile for iOS, and possible syncing with future versions of foobar2000, I hope you won't be disappointed. Currently, foobar2000 Desktop cannot synchronize with Mobile, but Mobile does have its sandboxed Documents folder, which you may freely drop arbitrary files into using iTunes. (Main dialog, connect your device as necessary, click the device icon, navigate to the Apps section, scroll down that pane to the Documents section at the bottom, then you would locate foobar2000 in the list, and freely drop files in, or save files out. I used this slightly cumbersome method to sync and later listen to a Musepack SV8 encoded album about a week ago.)
