In Preferences-Advanced-Display, you have an option called Autocomplete fields. Remove genre from there and the drop-down list will be gone forever.

If you want to keep the autocomplete function and only remove some genres, you must remove these genres from the files tags.

For searching, you can use Album list. In Library-Album list use the filter field. For example: Put genre IS tecno to search for bad written techno

Do you get a glitchless playback with something else? I tried ffplay, it glitches pretty much constantly. I played with VLC and foobar2000 simultaneously, both players glitch every now and then but not at the exact same time.

There were Skip Track related time reporting bugs in 2.25 previews long ago, but to my knowledge everything was fixed well before public release. But I have never seen what you describe, even though I have been doing a lot of last-second seekbacks during for example DSP testing.
If you can tell me how to reproduce the issue I will forward any potential core bugs to Peter.

The OP seems to only want command line solutions, but I'll mention anyway that several resampler DSPs for foobar2000, including SoX Resampler, will extrapolate the signal at track transitions which pretty much fully eliminates all glitching. Faster option than the "Do not reset DSP" option mentioned by Bogozo.
Also Advanced Limiter DSP will eliminate any potential clipping in a smart way without messing up loudness.

foobar2000 mobile / Notifications ducking delay

Just updated to Foobar2000 v2.25 and noticed a change in notification ducking on my Pixel 9 Pro (Android 15, May 5th security update).
Now, when a notification comes in while music is playing, the music volume doesn't duck immediately. I hear the notification, and then the music ducks 2-3 seconds later for a short time before returning to normal volume. This delay wasn't happening before the update.
