The fact of the matter is FLAC (or any other reliable lossless compressor) will differ in file ratio IF the source material and/or compressor are not identical.

What is relevant is whether your source material decompresses bit-identical to FLAC decompressed, which it should by definition of lossless.

I apologize in advance if I am breaking any rules of the forum, but here is a link of two different tracks (one i ripped from the original cd to flac, titled "(mine)"; one i downloaded from a reliable source that is also supposedly ripped from the original cd to flac, titled "(theirs)").  Please let me know if you have an explanation for this! Thanks!
