Aside from audio quality, what is the advantage of using AAC vs mp3 wi

I have spent all evening looking at "AAC vs MP3" posts and they all seem to deal with audio quality at various bit rates etc. But are there other advantages to using AAC instead of MP3 with iTunes and iPods? For example, does using AAC (.mp4) make it easier to tag or search for songs on the iPod. Is it more stable? Is it easier to add album artwork? I've heard that AAC works more seamlessly with iTunes and iPods but what does "seamlessly" mean in this context?

There no other advantages aside from (perhaps) quality.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've read that .mp4 is a container for the AAC file. Does the .mp4 "container" offer advantages as far as ease-of-use vs .mp3? I am assuming that .mp3 is "containerless". Sorry if this second question is redundant, I am a complete noob to this stuff.

From what you've said of your purposes, it makes absolutely no difference.

MP3 is encapsulated in an MPEG-1 container, while AAC is usually encapsulated in an MPEG-4 container. MPEG-4 holds some advantages if you're storing video (I believe it supports subtitles, for instance) but there's no advantage with audio.

I'd stay away from messing with container formats anyway - mixing different codecs and container formats than what is normally used will likely end you up with a file that's unplayable on three-quarters of devices and programs out there.
