MP3 + H.264 inside MP4 (mov) container; no audio found?

Hi,

Is there a definitive list somewhere of what combinations should and shouldn't work? I don't know if the combination I have in this file is legal or not. It's MP3 audio, H.264 video, in a .mov-style container (MPEG4 part 14). foobar is unable to find (and play) the audio track. Is there anything that can be done to resolve the issue?

this subject has come up before and it seems foobar doesn't like anything but pure audio in an mp4/m4a container. i suppose you could use something like mp4box/yamb to extract just the audio stream.

You are sure that this is MPEG-4 Part 14?

It seems that foobar2000 supports just standard MP4 container - MPEG-4 Part 14 and I think also MPEG-4 Part 12.
foobar2000 may not supports non-standard MP4 variants and does not support QuickTime File Format (although MP4 is based on QuickTime File Format, QTFF is not part of ISO/IEC standards).

So (as above), You can demux/extract audio or eventually re-mux A/V to standard MP4.

But also... if it's MP4 container, change file extension from .mov to .mp4 - foobar2000 expects correct file extension.

As sure as I can be; that's what GSpot claims, and mp4box was happy demuxing the file.

Already .mp4 unfortunately. It seems like foobar just doesn't like MP3 in MPEG-4 part 14.

It should like MP3 in Matroska, though, if you are fine with that.
It's only audiophile if it's inconvenient.
