Mp3 Editor lossless

I'm looking for an mp3 editor (commercial or free,Linux or Win) that allows basic mp3 editing tasks like fade in/out cut, trim, without the need of decoding and re-encoding the mp3.
Editors like Wavelab, SoundForge, Audacity etc works by transcoding the file, therefore loosing on quality.

I'm looking for something like Mp3DirectCut but easier to use: we need to edit hundreds on mp3.

Thanks
Terataz

Any other suggestions? I have an hour-long interview on mp3 that contains musical bits I want to cut out, but those program tells me the file is too big to work with. Thanks!

I don't know if you'll find an mp3 editor that can fade in and out without de/re-encoding. For cutting and trimming is a different story.

The aforementioned MP3DirectCut can - it incrementally increases or decreases the global gain value on successive frames.  Of course, the resolution is "only" 1.5 dB per gain step, but that still sounds very clean for quick "heads 'n' tails" types of fades.

However, as far as automating that via the command line and batch files...yeah, that's a tough one.

MP3DirectCut does have a basic command line syntax, but it doesn't appear to offer any way to apply fades, just overall normalization.
"Not sure what the question is, but the answer is probably no."

Just look at the features list of the above mentioned (and probably any other) non-destructive MP3 editors and you will see it can be done. Each frame in an mp3 has a gain value which can be modified to perform edits like fading, volume normalization, etc., without transcoding.

Reading back through the thread , it looks like the shareware version of mpTrim - mpTrim PRO - will do what the OP needs...so, no freeware option like MP3DirectCut, but there is at least an option, although it still doesn't appear to be scriptable, FWIW, "just" drag 'n' drop.

Almost every GUI is scriptable using AutoIt3
Can't wait for a HD-AAC encoder :P

Still no simple freeware solution for lossless editing an mp3 (simple operations like cutting, joining etc) ?

mpTrim apparently just trims (from beginning or end) but one can't specify a middle slice to cut out

My post refered to Udun.

How would one cut out a specific part from the middle in an easier way than using mp3DirectCut?
