What OS?

What program are you using for burning?
"Not sure what the question is, but the answer is probably no."

Did you want an mp3 CD or an audio CD? Foobar apparently thinks you want the mp3 files converted to PCM and then written as an audio CD.

I am using Foobar2000 as I want the tracks gapless

There are higher capacity discs available but may not work with your burner. I have used some 800mb discs which seem fine for my systems.

How big a disc are you using?

Using 700mb

Gapless MP3 playback has nothing to do with how the disc is burned - that's entirely a function of having an encoder that writes the appropriate gapless info (delay and padding) *and* a decoder that can read that info and utilize it on playback.

Likewise, there is nothing foobar2000 (or any other program) can do to magically combine individual MP3s into a single gapless MP3 without re-encoding.

A  "regular audio CD" holds about 74 minutes of uncompressed 44.11kHz, 16-bit stereo audio.  I assume your 20 files add-up to more than that.  With an 800MB disc, you can hold about 80 minutes.

If you burn the compressed MP3 files direclty onto a CD (with Nero or ImgBurn, etc.), you can hold 5 or 10 times as much audio (depending on the MP3 bitrate).    20 "average" songs would be no problem.  But, most CD regular players won't play MP3 files.  (All computers can play MP3 files from a CD, and some car stereos can too.)

What is commonly called an MP3 CD is just a Data CD with MP3 files stored on it. foobar2000 does not have a function to write to the Data CD format, so therefore cannot make an MP3 CD. Even if it did, as previously stated gapless mp3 playback is dependent upon both the file encoding and the playback software or hardware.

If the files play gaplessly in foobar2000, it can convert (decompress) the MP3 files and burn a gapless Audio CD. But as stated that limits you to 74 to 80 minutes of audio.
