app to find missing albums in music collection

I'm trying to find some sort of software that will scan my music collection and look up artists discography and tell me what albums I'm missing.  The bigger my mp3 music collection gets the harder I find it to make sure I have every studio album from an artist. I think it would help a lot with both putting together a complete library and finding out about missing new albums from artists. Would have to be read only though. I don't want something that will modify my tags or metadata what so ever.

Does anyone know of any software that will do this? Would really appreciate even any leads on something that might do this for me.

The problem is, there's no complete "master database" of all releases by all artists.

I suppose an application could search several different databases, but I suspect the resulting data would need to be analyzed by a human.    Sometimes the best discography for a particular artist is on the artist's home page or a fan-page, and there is no standardization for the formats on these random sites.

Yeah I imagine it could be some trouble figuring out the most reliable way to find the info. Allmusic would be good enough for my needs though. An app like this would almost need to have a studio album and full discography option. Either way something that could cross reference some place like allmusic and a local library would be a start and should help a lot. Maybe an idea for someone who wants to tackle a new programing challenge.

I keep looking and doesn't seam like anything exists that will do this. I think a lot of people who try to keep full discography's of the artists they have would love and fine a lot of use out of something like this.

Even more complete if it searched for price on the missing albums from various vendors with some "click to order" tool (excluding the pirate sites of course)
