Read WAV metatag under foobar2000

Hi,
Is there any way to read WAV metatag(riff/bext) under foobar2000 ?
Actually i have to use mediamonkey to read those tags, and i would really like to use foobar instead.

Is there any plugins to specify where foobar can read the tags?

thank you.

Reading tags is up to the input implementation. Good luck convincing anyone in a position to change the foobar2000 WAV input to read any of the known RIFF INFO/tag/whatever chunk formats as tags, or write to them, or otherwise acknowledge their existence. You will be met with a wall of resistance telling you to compress your WAV files with a lossless format such as FLAC or WavPack, which support full tagging already. Not terribly useful for you, I realize, but that's all I can tell you.

I see perfectly what you mean but maybe is there a plugin to specify where to read file tag (hex address) ?

And everybody would be happy in an happy world

I'm interested in this as well if anyone has an answer. I just downloaded the new Radiohead album  in wav and foobar won't even let me manually alter the tags. All I can do is add the art from disccogs.

Convert to FLAC, TAK, WavPack etc .. and tag away!

C.
PC = TAK + LossyWAV  ::  Portable = Opus (130)

The long explanation is that the Windows WAVE format does not have a metadata section to support adding tags.

But as carpman suggested, using a lossless audio codec will give you the combined benefits of smaller file size and metadata fields.

WAV, being a RIFF format, does support arbitrary chunks, including the documented INFO LIST chunk. Of course, that only supports a limited number of fields, and none of them support Unicode. There is also allegedly a range of software which may write an ID3 chunk containing a full ID3v2 tag, which does support Unicode, but there's no telling what random software may actually accept in that sort of tag.

Really, just compress these WAV files with something that does have a proper tagging standard. Just about any lossless compression format will do.
