foobar2000 remove duplicates on ipod?

I've used foobar2000 exclusively on my ipod, and been happy with it as I've progressively ripped my CDs to MP3. But I recently came up with a problem.

I have been through the usual beginner problems with ripping a lot of CDs in that I had inadequate directory structures, poor control over transfers, etc. and worked through those over time. I've finally got to where my music library on disk is structured in a way that works for me, and I decided to put that cleaned-up collection on the pod.

Fired up foobar, plugged in the pod, got the library view from the pod and told it to delete all the music on the pod. That seemed to work. Then I messed with the library controls on foobar, getting the right disk folders in place and re-inserted the library into foobar. That seemed to work OK. Next I told foobar to transfer the newly-OK library to the pod.

That even seemed to work. But I notice that I have many, many duplicated files on the ipod. This brings up two questions:

1) are there really duplicates out on the pod, or is this a database oddity?
2) is there a reference somewhere that will tell me more about getting foobar to automagically remove duplicates on the pod? So far, all I can find is to remove duplicates from playlists.

Sorry if this is repetitive - I did the forum search and didn't find anything close enough to help.

This should really go in the foo_dop thread, since it's asking for support on that component, but if you've already loaded your iPod library and used "Remove duplicates" to eliminate any duplicate entries in the playlist, you can manually delete any files using "File Operations -> Delete File" (sorting first is recommended). Just make sure to rewrite the database when you're done.

As an afterthought, it occurred to me that simply deleting files through foobar2000 would not update the iPod's native, iTunes library. You may want to format your iPod first, THEN start using foobar2000.
