Yamaha Multitrack Cassette Recorders

Hello, I am looking at getting a multitrack cassette recorder, and have been liking the Yamaha's, specifically Yamaha MT120 and MT4X.
They both seem like fine machines, but I have one question; I know I can record multiple tracks at once on both machines, and I know I can send multiple channels to one track, and record multiple tracks like that on the MT4X, but I am unsure if I can do that with MT120. I think I can but I am not sure. The manual does not explicitly state that, and a lot of where I am looking is ebay, craigslist, stuff like that, and people are not completely sure about the machines. One can definitely send multiple channels to one track with the MT120 and doing direct channel to track, one can record multiple tracks, again, I want to know if I can send multiple channels to one track, do that for multiple tracks, and record that simultaneously.
I figured this would be an alright place to ask.
Also, anyone have any advice on these machines, or any other cassette mutlitracks. What I am mainly looking for is a multitrack with separate channel inputs for each track, and the ability to record multiple tracks at once. Thank you so much

Paul

Good question.

To me using cassettes is like having an ongoing root canal.

I hear good things about the Zoom R16.

Might have something to do with both linked pages for the cassettes saying they had been discontinued.

Yeah...  A digital solution will allow for potentially better quality, and much-much more editing capability.

I don't own any of this stuff, but I've also read good things about the Zoom products.  The Tascam Portastudios are also very popular and affordable.

You can go with a stand-alone digital recorder, or a multichannel soundcard or computer interface.  I suggest you browse sites like Musician's Friend, Zzounds, Sweetwater, B&H, etc., to see what's available.
