How to convert a file to CBR mp3

I am a new to fb2k so please forgive my ignorance. I was wondering if there is a way to convert audio files to mp3 cbr other than 320kbps? I am using fb2k v1.0.3 on window XP. Thank for any help in advance.

Sure.
Try this command line in a new converter setting:
Encoder: lame.exe
extension: mp3
parameters: -b 192 -h %s %d
(you can change 192 to any other kbps value)
and voila.

The -h parameter is a legacy switch that in the past has been equivalent with -q2. I don't believe it's necessary in current versions of LAME.

this are the settings foobar uses when you select 320 on the slider so i'd just modify that number.

Code: [Select]
-S --noreplaygain -b 320 - %d

of course i'd recommend using one of the V settings. i did hear something about god killing kittens every time someone encodes using CBR.

Thanks for the info Zarrrg!  Will give that a try.

marc2003, of course for quality, client files, uploading, and downloading, if mp3 is insisted upon (I hate the damn things and use FLAC for my own enjoyment) then I always use CBR 320 kbps, but this is for my streaming radio show on FutureMusicFM, where 128kbps CBR is an absolute requirement. I wish it wasn't, but it is.  Will give your string a try too (changing 320 to 128) and see if there is any difference in encoding time or output size etc.

Never thought I would do this, but with disk (and usb/flash) space so cheap these days, I've gone to cbr320.  Doesn't matter if I can hear the difference (I can't).  There is no reason for me not to.  Space is not an issue anymore.  Btw... I'm a dog person

flac > schiit modi > schiit magni > hd650

If god doesn't do it, I will. Dogs too.
It's only audiophile if it's inconvenient.
