The same song showed and played twice

I have same issue with 0.9.6.8
However I don't have duplicates files but fb2k still shows and plays same song twice.
Clicking Remove dead entries/ remove duplicates doesn't remove the duplicates in the playlist.
I also don't have any m3u/fpl/cue files in the directory that will cause fb2k to load same track again.

any ideas?

How do you end up with the duplicate tracks in the playlist? Choosing from a library search/album list or by opening some files manually?
See 2nd Properties page of the duplicate file pairs to see if there are any difference in file path or somewhere?
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

Are you sure "context menu>open containing folder" points to the same file for both entries?
How exactly are you browsing your library to make the track(s) show up? (which library browser, browsing by folder structure?, etc)

*Edit, too slow, delete at will.

I have this same issue. It happens no matter how I ad the tracks to the playlist. It doesn't do it with all songs, it seems to pick certain albums at random and do it to them. Both tracks show the exact same information in the properties.

As a start I would follow advice from smkk. Can't tell you how many times my brain misses a subtle difference in a long text string.

Select each track independently and open containing folder to confirm they are pointing to exact same folder.

Interesting. I updated to 0.9.6.9 and now when I drag and drop from the folder there's only one copy, but if I add using the album list there's still 2 that appear. As I said before, ALL the info is the same in properties, and yes, opening containing folder opens the same one for both.

EDIT: Just after posting this it decided to tell me they were in different locations. I'm assuming this is the problem. I have no idea why it was giving the same location for both though? Seems maybe foobar's getting confused and only showing the info for the first most of the time.

I'd guess your brain was temporarily confused.  Don't worry, it happens to everyone.

No, I know that's not it because I've had this problem for over a month (not before oddly despite same tracks in same locations). I've been trying to figure it on and off since then and always got the same info for both tracks. Maybe the new version changed something relevant slightly, because as I said, with the 0.9.6.8 version even drag and drop did the double track issue.

you have made my day.
Ah, such a sad little life I have

Foobar acting randomly vs steadfast denial of possible pebkac

There is a piece of info missing in this quest. What that may be is anyone's quess. At least, all is currently working well.

This has been driving me crazy since I started using this a couple weeks ago. I almost gave up on Foobar and went back to iTunes. I read through the thread and now at least I know what is causing this annoying issue. So the questions is:
I have lots of music in multiple formats of the same tracks (for example FLAC and MP3). So for example if I only have one folder of music for Phish but have both mp3 and flacs with the same file names, and then filter for Phish, I will only see each track once. Or likewise if I want to filter for the song name. If I only see it listed once, but then add it to the playlist, it adds both tracks? Shouldn't I see each track listed twice and let me select which one I want to hear? Is there a workaround to this? Thanks for any help that you can offer.

Could it be that you had a .rar Archive with the songs in your music folder?

I had that exact same problem too. But after  deleted the .rar it was gone.
