Album List: "sort by A, but display B" possible?

First post on this forum. Please bear with me.

I'm finally in the process of migrating my iTunes library to foobar2000. Many of my albums are of Japanese origin and are properly tagged with Japanese script. I also made ample use of iTunes' sort order functionality. So, something like "攻殻機動隊 STAND ALONE COMPLEX O.S.T. 2" by "菅野よう子" has corresponding sort order tags (ALBUMSORTORDER, ALBUMARTISTSORTORDER) in Latin script: "Koukaku Kidoutai STAND ALONE COMPLEX O.S.T. 2" by "Kanno Youko".

Can I make foobar2000 sort the Album List by ALBUMSORTORDER, yet let it display ALBUM?

I don't know about album list, but with the DUI component Facets you can have multiple columns in one Facet.
Meaning you can create two columns, one you want to sort by and one you want to display, then drag the sorting column to very small size.

I'd like to be able to define the sort order for the Album List as well.

My example usage is that I have a view grouped by when the album was ripped.  I use yyyy-mm-dd by default, so the albums sort nicely already.  What I'd really like though is for the sort to be reversed so that the newest items show up on top rather than the oldest.

That's great for the playlist, but not for the Album List, and it won't work with the full date that I'm using in my rip date variable.

It is a really nice trick for sorting my playlists by descending release date though.  Thanks for pointing me to it.

I don't know if a user defined variable can be returned as a serial number [unsure if this is correct term; maybe unix time?].

The field Date added that is used by the supported play statistics component does.

%added_timestamp%.

Album list can be sorted in reverse with: $sub(1000000000000000000,%added_timestamp%)

Whether this helps or not....I had fun.

EDIT: way, way out of my league here.....this very well may not return what is expected or what I think as I only looked at a glance.

If you're using DUI, your best bet is using Facets as described above. If you're using CUI, try Playlist tree mod, shift+right click on the root node, go to New>Query..., then put what you want to display in the Format box, and what you want to sort by in the Population Order box. You don't need the scheme version unless you want to make complicated queries, it's a lot slower.
