Small (Tray) Tool for CD/DVD Speed Management

Hi,

For years I'm a user of the Foobar2000 Player. Great software. Moreover it has one feature which I really like. It can slow down the Audio CD whie playing. This works great with almost all CD and DVD Drives i Use. Unfortunately I can only use that for Audio but not Video DVD. I'm searching a Tool for years now but didn't find a proper Solution. Until 2007 I used CD-Bremse but the developper stopped the program and this does not support newer Blu-Ray drives (especially form Sony which I use).

So I'm looking for someone who could realize such a small (Tray) Tool which works equally to this which is implemented in the FooBar Player. I'm very very interested in this and if you can do this or know a developer who can do this please write me a short message.

Hmmm, Toshiba laptops have this feature anyway, it's a utility called CD/DVD Drive Acoustic Silencer. It may work with other vendors...

Plextor offers this feature in Plextools http://www.plextools.com
The last version I used, was bundled with Plextor Hardware but works also with other drives.
Now there is a free version (LE=Limited Edition).  But I did not find any hinds if it is still bundled with Plextor drives or how reliable it is with non-Plextor drives.

There is a tool called Nero Drivespeed. I don't know if it works with Blu-Ray drives.

Neither works: plextor tools (drive was behaving usual, noisy way) nor nero tools (after inserting the disk neither name nor contents of disk was availible)

There's a german only version, but the menu is so simple that nobody should have problems with it.
The prog is compatible with most CD/DVD-drives. (A list of supported drives is published on the homepage > http://www.cd-bremse.de/drives.htm, but it's not up-to-date.)
Note: Don't forget do disable CD-Bremse when making images, or copying on-the-fly!

Hi @all,

I'm also looking for a small tool that can slow down my drives. I tested

1) CD-Bremse. It does not work with my Blu-Ray Drive and it seems that it stopped (last update 2007)
2) Nero: It also does not support my Blu-Ray
3) Plextools. This works for all Pro Plextor drives (but not for actual one). The development has stopped.
4) The internal of anyDVD: It simply did not work.

But as the author mentioned the internal Tool of Foobar could slow down my Drive. Fantastic...but only for Audio and Not DVD.

I also would really support the development of such a tool.

A good software dvd-player should slow down during playback to 1x, but this depends on the drive model too.
However, here is a hint to get the same result:
Start the video, choose your settings, let it play, after a few seconds klick the pause button. Wait till the drive is braking, then go on playing.
(Works with every DVD drive i ever tried: Pioneer, Teac, Toshiba.)
