EAC + DVR-216D does not mix?

I'm trying to burn cds with EAC on my Pioneer DVR-216D, but it keeps saying that it cannot detect cdrs in my drive. I cannot even test the cdr capacity, and when I tell it to check the free space on the disc, it says no cdr discs in the drive. Strangely enough, I can burn sample test cds fine, though.
Other burners (Nero 7.8.5.0) can detect and burn cdrs fine, but without write offset correction and not correct pregaps (my main problem - are there any other burners that can do both?).

The disc I'm using is a Phillips 52x cdr (MBI media).

Yes (though on my earlier pioneer dvr drives, eac could not burn anything without cdrdao), and I also tried using different cd access layers (aspi, native win32).

No difference.

I'll have to try with different media, though I'm not that bothered about it since I rarely if ever burn CDs.

A little update: The problem was that I had the dvd drive running in SATA Native mode. After setting it back to IDE mode, EAC could burn cds again.
