Asio playback works good with flac and some MP3s, but not with podcast

I've been using Asio4all (with Foobar, Vista and a behringer UCA USB soundcard) to play FLAC files, and a few of my music MP3 files.  Works well  However, if I try playing a podcast MP3 (I've tried a few) foobar tells me "Unrecoverable playback error: ASIO: None of input channels are assigned to device channels" and won't play until I switch to Direct sound...  Any idea why that would be?  My MP3s are higher bitrate, if that would make a difference...

Thanks in advance.

The files are probably mono. In this case, I think it is possible to configure the ASIO component to deal with that (can't remember how though), or use the 'Convert mono to stereo' dsp.

Of course, there's still the question of why ASIO output is necessary for listening to podcasts?

fixed -- thanks.  Clearly, it is not necessarily to listen to podcasts with ASIO  However,  it does save me from having to switch from ASIO and then back again when listening to podcasts.  It also means I don't get annoyed by the brilliant Webmasters who think it's cool to have music, beeps, speech and all kinds of other things starting automatically when you go to their sites
