Mass *automatic* tagging?

I'm on fb2k 0.9.4.5.

Is there any way to do mass tagging of legacy files *automatically*, i.e. by some semi-intelligent lookup based on file size / name and in conjunction with e.g. freedb?  E.g. select whole set of tracks in album / right click / tag.

I've tried "Get tags from freedb" from the contextual menu, but always get "no information found" after doing so.

If not possible in fb2k, are there any other tools I can use?  Does WMP do this?

Note that I have mpc and m4a (aac) files in addition to mp3 files that I'd like to tag.

Thanks,

Mike

Two good - and one semi-good - options for automatic tagging is to use MusicBrainz's PicardTagger, MusicIP's Music Magic Mixer or Gracenote's plugin included when installing Winamp. The reason I'm counting the Gracnote plugin as semi-good, is that it will just picks something, if it can't find an accurate match - which I don't like.

Personally, I prefer PicardTagger. Whether you have metadata in your tags or not, it can look that file up. Either with pattern matching for your tags - or by using MusicIP's acoustic fingerprinting technique.

You can also use the foo_discogs  component, which is what I use to tag all my albums. It's not totally automatic though, you still have to select the correct album from a list.
