RareWares LAME enc based on Blade API?

Is RareWares' LAME enc binary based on the Blade API? I read somewhere it was. Thanks.

no.

however, they both (lame, blade) derive from the dist10 sources, with lame starting as a 8hz fork/patch/whatever.

it is very safe to say that lame has no relation to blade now (and years ago ~2000)

Yes, it uses the Blade API, but adds a few extra things for newer programs to access LAME-specific features.
AFAIK, the Blade API is the only interface you can use with LAME under the LGPL license.  The newer API header files contain the GPL text
