Creative Zen Stone: It plays only a few songs?!

Hi to everyone,

I recently bought a Creative Zen Stone MP3 player, uploaded a few songs and noticed:

It only plays a few songs (10 or sth).

The played songs are always the same ones, no matter if I put them into a subfolder. On my PC (Winamp 5.5 Build 1600), everything is played fine. How can I make them be played on a Zen Stone?

What format are those songs?

MP3, as I don't like WMA.

Strange, I don't encounter such problem with my player.

How many level of subfolder you created then? (E.g. Artist -> Album Name = 2 level)

This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but have you checked to see that your files are all tagged? If they are, what format are you using? ID3v1 or v2? I have a Zen Micro that doesn't like anything but ID3v1 and as such will not recognize any file that does not have a v1 tag.

Check out the epizenter.net forums.  It is a forum dedicated to creative DAPs.  I bet you will find an answer there.

One.

They are. I use MP3Tag and/or M. Mutschler's MP3Info extension for tagging. The files have both ID3v1 and v2 tags, IIRC.
edit: Ah, there are some which only have v1...

@spockep:
Thanks, I'll have a look!

Another edit:
After adding v1 tags, all seems to work fine!

Oh Creative, when will you support modern tags? I about lost my mind trying to figure out why some tagged files still wouldn't work.

Since when has HA had the  smiley?

If they'd ask me, I wouldn't even need v1 tags. The ZS however has no display, so what's all this about?

Well yes, it would be nice if my ZM would read untagged files too. I can't imagine the reason behind not supporting filenames in the event of an untagged file...
