Winamp plugin performance

Hi.

Winamp plugin v2.4 reads tags very slowly. Adding wv-file to playlist takes about 10 seconds, re-indexing of media library (~3000 files) takes hours.
Is it because the plugin searches for IDv1 tags within files? Is there an option to ignore them and read APEv2 tags only?

Thanks.

Hmm, 10 seconds to add a song sounds like a lot. Does this happen with only WavPack, or does it happen with other formats with APEv2 tags (i.e. MPC, APE, ...)?

Unfortunately, IDv1 tags and APEv2 tags are both at the end of the file, so a seek out to the end is required in either case. I have also noticed what seems like a little time lag getting out there, although nothing like 10 seconds. What OS and FS are you using? I'm really swamped right now, but I'll try to look into this at some point soon.

Thanks!

Hi bryant. Sorry for late response.

I made some testing and found that the plugin has the performance issue only with files stored on shared folders on remote computers. Everything is fine with local folders.

It's confirmed on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003, NTFS5, Winamp 5.34-5.36 beta.

thanks.

The issue seems to be fixed in alpha 2. Now wv files take about a second - just like OGG vorbis. MP3 is a bit faster but it doesn't matter actually.
Thanks a lot for so rapid response!
