Affordable accommodation in Hanover

Me and a friend of mine are planning to attend this year's CeBIT. We're both students and don't have much money, so we're flying low-cost. The problem is we need some decent, cheap place to sleep during the Expo, in Hanover. Germany's weather and temperature keep us from camping - Portugal is a sunny warm country (I've only seen snow once in my life) - so camping in cold snowy conditions would freeze us to death
I've noticed there are a lot German members in this board, so if anyone knows of facilities we can use, preferably ones we can benefit from student discount (or the german equivalent), please let me know.

Tell me about it... I've checked some prices and 1 night on a regular "cheap" hotel would ruin half of my budget.
