Denon 1920 & How to play DVD-Audio disc?

Ok, this might be one of those 'duhh' questions, I hope so.

Have had a Denon 1920 Universal DVD player for a while now, but just been doing movies.

Finally bought some DVD-Audio discs, Beatles Love disc for example.

All of the discs clearly state on them DVD-Audio.

Yet when I put them, any/all of them, into the Denon 1920, it only 'goes to/recognizes' the DVD side of things.

I have read on this or other forums that all DVD-Audio discs are required to also contain the Dolby Digital 5.1 standard as a backwards compatible issue for 'regular' DVD players.

My question is, how the heck to I get my Denon 1920 to recognize the DVD-Audio portion of these discs?

I have thoroughly checked the manual, gone through setup, and tried everything I can see on the remote and the front of the unit, but to no avail, it just sticks to DVD (video), the DVD-A (audio) will not come up.

I would really like to be able to check out the DVD-Audio angle on these discs.

Thanks

From looking at the user's manual, it seems the only way to navigate from DVD-A to DVD-V tracks is to use the 'GROUP' button.    You must also use the analog output or HDMI output for audio.  DVD-A is generally not passable through normal digital (optical/coax) connections.  DISPLAY can show you the total number of groups available.

'SOUND MODE' might also work but the desrciption is too vague for me to tell.

Most players have a clear setting for 'default' playback of DVD-A discs, where you can set it to either 'DVD-Audio' or 'DVD-Video'.  THis Denon appears to lack that. (Or else I'm just not finding it with a text search of the pdf)

I would suggest for further info that you direct question to the appropriate forum on AVSforum.com, e.g.,

Hello

The Player setup lets you choose between the DVD-Audio and DVD-Video playback.

To hear the DVD audio you will have to have 2-channel or 6-channel analog outputs connected to the analog inputs of your receiver or Amp.  Our dear friends the RIAA and record companies don't want you to be able to listen to the high resolution formats digitally,  so you can't rip them to your computer.

Also too access the player setup in the 1920 you have to have S-video or analog connection to a monitor or TV. On-screen display is the only way to get to setup in this player.  Good luck!  It is actually possible to get it done by following the instructions,  if you have the patience and a good magnifying glass.
