I thought this would add some humor to those of you deciding between dj and af tables.  This is clearly NOT the choice of table for me, but rather interesting...

I don't know anything about DJ turntables. What kinds of music will you be playing, at what volume?

You can come up with some very good vintage turntables at a reasonable price. I have a Thorens TD145 mk II turntable, got it on eBay, had it serviced and put in an Ortofon OM20 cartridge. The sound is very nice, rich and detailed.

That was called the "Sound Burger" over here.

It was better than a lot of cheap portables of the time, in terms of having a magnetic cartridge and tracking comparatively lightly.

However, the unsupported record rumbled and bounced as you would expect.

It has a use: if you're buying second hand / used records, take it along and check they're not wrecked. Some records can look find but sound awful.
