A different approach to using multimedia keyboards with foobar

well... first of all i've been using foobar for a couple of weeks now, know about 1% of it, and understand about half of what I know

but, let's focus on the topic at hand. I was reading the posts on using intellitype multimedia keyboards and found the explanations to be complex and prone to random errors, so I cooked up a solution myself and decided to share it with you

here it goes:

1. download http://www.fxs.cl/av/Intellitype.zip and extract it somewhere
2. add the following keyboard shortcuts in foobar (all global and all combined with control+alt):

- p: play or play/pause
- s: pause (if p=play)
- t: stop (if p=play/pause)
- j: Quicksearch
- l: Media Library
- 6: next
- 4: previous

Note: when adding keys 6 and 4, make sure you don't use the numerical keypad (e.g. it should say "control+alt+4" and not "control+alt+numpad4")

3. Go to intellitype's key settings (in keyboard, in the control panel) and modify the keys so they run files as follows:

- play/pause: play.js
- stop(media): pause.js or stop.js, depending on your preferences
- my music: search.js
- media: library.js
- prev. track: previous.js
- next track: next.js

hint: after browsing for the first file, copy the full path shown in the dialogue box, so that you need only paste and modify the name of the file when setting the rest of the keys.

in order to use this, you must have windows scripting host (which you probably already have) installed. You can download it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

Hope it works for you. If it doesn't, or you have any questions, be sure to post and i'll be happy to answer

The full explanation of haw these scripts were made can be found in http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....st&p=452226

Enjoy!
