FreeDB is wrong...

I was freedb tagging P.U.L.S.E. as I ripped it using foobar.

It got the first disc right albeit it had mistakes in the title (Comfortably Numo, Wish You Were HereEclipse follwed by eclipse).
But then the second disc is labeled as DSOM, and that's the only choice it gives me...What gives, and is there any comparable alternatives?

Why dont you enter the correct data and then upload it to freedb, that's how the data gets there in the first place. See for example the "submit to remote CDDB" option in cdex.

While you're at it, why don't you just rip it in a truely FreeDB enabled  software (CDex, VU Player, Steinberg WavaLab etc)

Sorry. The need for a 2nd software to do what the main player should be doing dosan't make any sense to me.

This is the nature of the beast; freeDB relies on it's users to submit CD info, and unfortunately there are some careless/lazy/ignorant/mentally-challenged people who submit half-assed info freeDB, and once it's there, it's there.  Usually you can just tag the files using freeDB an then make a few corrections, though sometimes you do have to tag your files yourself.  Fortunately foobar's masstagger (Tagging > Manage Scripts) and multiple-flies properties dialog are great tools here.

I've also heard that foobar can be configured to retrieve CD info via musicbrainz or discogs, though I'm not sure how this is set up.  Ahhh... check this thread:

I had problems with tags too, but for another reason (lots of missing tags or wrong tagged).

So i looked for a program what can search database for single songs or parts of albums.

I found Magic-tagger.

Works together with musicbrainz or freedb. It found appr. 70% of my missing tags (even in single songs).

Easy to use, freeware (free version is just limited to 5 songs/batch).

Defenitely worth a try.

I second Musicbrainz - their data is rarely wrong as all entries/modifications are reviewed and voted on.
