Best Screen Capture Program?

What Screen Capture program do you use? (If any)

For years I've been using HardCopy Pro, as it allows me to capture rectangular areas on screen, with or without mouse pointer in it.

I just happened upon WinSnap, and I'm really intrigued by its capability of capturing non-rectangular windows, also the auto-shadow (beats an additional step of going into Corel Photo-Paint to add a drop shadow).

Is WinSnap any good? Or what do you recommend?

(Note: Standard Windows' PrtScr or Alt-PrtScr does not count here  )

For freeware, there's MWSnap found at Snapfiles... but I haven't checked it out.

I just like WinSnap's claimed feature of capturing nonrectangles and placing a dropshadow in one step.

Usually for Screen Capture type stuff, I use what's built into either irfanview or xnview, but then again I'm not terribly picky as to how something gets captured.

don't forget its ability to auto-save the images . makes it really easy for me when uploading it to ImageShack. just click the icon on RK Launcher, it saves it, go back to opera, use the sidebar to get to ImageShack, upload it and that's it.

there is also another utility made by the folks at imageshack with which you can take an image and it automatically uploads it. but winsnap works much better for me.

well, i am not quite sure but i think you can try ACA capture PRo....

it is pretty good to me.and i think it can help you out as well....

ACA capture PRO is a multi-function software...Not only capturing the video,
it can capture almost all kinds of files such as swf, all static images, flash on the website, window's menu item...Moreover, ACA capture PRo support selected-area capture function, it is mean that you have a more flexible screen capture resolution.....

FastStone Screen Capture  is free, and does something I haven't seen elsewhere: it captures the entirety of a scrollable window.  It also runs "standalone", meaning it does not mess up your installation of Windows in any way (gotta love that).

on linux... xshot -window root or whatever the hell it is
windows... uh... print screen
on my mac...
still images: shift-cmd-3 for whole screen saved to the desktop, shift-cmd-4 for a rectangle area grabber, space after that lets you select a window.
videos: Vine VNC server with pyvnc2swf (generates an html page with seekbar too)
err... i'm not using windows any more ;)
