Changing iTunes Sound Check values

See topic title - is this possible?  I'm not displeased with Sound Check, but every once in a while it makes the one quiet song on an album much too loud compared to the rest, and I'd like to correct that manually.  Is there a way to do this?  It can't be done in iTunes itself, and I don't want to mess with the volume slider.  I tried to go the ReplayGain route before but it seemed like more trouble than it was worth for my too-large library.

thanks!

I have the same issue. I know that foo_dop can scribble on the SoundCheck values when it uploads to an iPod, but it has no way of changing the SoundCheck values in place. I think the developer is aware of the issue but doesn't consider it a high priority.

The thing is, I like iTunes - it's a pretty nice interface, it's easy on the eyes, I'm comfortable with it, blah-dee-blah blah.  Apart from this one modest annoyance, I have no problem with iTunes.

There has to be a relatively simple way to edit those Sound Check values.  If foo pod can run ReplayGain and use it to write Sound Check data, how much of a leap is it to have an app that just lets you modify the existing number?

If it's only a couple of songs, what's wrong with the volume slider?

If you're on a mac, you can try iVolume or on a PC, try igain. allows you to set your desired volume and apply track or album gain

iVolume

iGain

Because if I turn Sound Check off, the volume slider still applies, which means radical volume shifts.  Basically the problem I have with Sound Check on, but inverted.

Also, there's a bug (or was at one time) that causes volume slider adjustments to be much more noticable on the iPod vs. iTunes.  Not sure if that has been fixed since I bought my iPod - I was under the impression it was an iPod firmware problem.  A volume adjustment of one notch on the slider made a song seem much louder than I wanted it to be.  I haven't updated my iTunes or iPod firmware lately, or played with the slider for that matter, so this may be fixed now.
