Ejecting via sw cuts out music and freezes programs

I have a JLMS XJ-HD166S (Liteon) drive and and LG GSA-4167B.

I think firmware are all up to date...both on seperate controllers, both have dma enabled.

If i eject the LG my music from my HDD keeps plying and the computer remains responsive. If i eject the Liteon, foobar will stop playing and all programs will stop responding (apart from the mouse) for about 1 second?!

Any ideas whats up with? Haw can I fix it? I have the latest intel chipset drivers installed as well :S

Heh I get the same thing on my Liteon burner and Intel motherboard. It's strange, but doesn't bother me too much.

It almost sounds as if windows is being notified by the drive of new media being made present immediately *after* the eject, so there's some delay as windows tries a few times to mount what's not there..  Might be a firmware bug in the drive.

OTOH, it might be a driver or sortware issue (e.g. drive-specific software, such as a packet driver) that's only associated with that one drive.  I'd check to see if you happened to install some extra software that came with that drive, and if so, temporarily uninstall it.  Then, delete the drive from the device manager and reboot.

You'll reinstall the drive on the next boot and then (perhaps after another reboot, depending on windows), try again.

Nah no third party drive-related software here, but thanks for the suggestion. It does appear to be trying to mount a non-existant disc in the situations mentioned in the original post.

Yep, no other 3rd party stuff here either..

Doesn't happen in linux, maybe becuase i don't have automounting enabled? Don't need to mount a ccd to copy it anyway.

Ah well, looks like with no other ideas I'll have to live with it....not to much of a hardship really, just a bit of an annoyance.
