Alternative M-Audio Sound Card (No Popping)

Recently, after reading recommendations at hydrogenaudio.org, I installed a M-Audio sound card. Unfortunately, each time I power down a very loud pop emanates through the speakers. Since I am using this PC to drive speakers through my house, this is quite annoying. I do not wish to leave the PC on. Can anyone suggest an internal card that is alternative that will not "pop"? The problem is described on the M-Audio website.

Thank you,
Brent

I have the Audiophile 24/96 and when my machine boots up a crackle is sent to the speakers. A low frequency is sent to the right channel and it so happens that the woofer on my Monitor Audio Silver S7s (just the right channel) blew. I'd bet money that it was due to the soundcard. I'm now much more careful.  But it would be nice to completely eliminate this problem. I'll try my MAudio Transit (with headphones!) over the weekend.

I have an audiophile too and I have none of these. Maybe because I use the digital output only?

I have never heard of this problem before either.  Although something familiar does ring a bell. I will check it out on the website.  If you are unsatisfied you could always go the cheap root and pickup a Chaintech AV-710.  It's a solid card for short money.

Here we go. Now are remember my dad's old computer with an SB! Live card had a similiar problem and the popping had to do with the fact that the speaker's were turned on before hand. This is a common problem.

btberger's problem is the pops heard when turning the system on/off, caused by power spikes.

simply turning off power amplifier or down volume knob or buy audiotrak soundcard , for exemple Prodigy 7.1 LT.

i use myself revolution and it is excellent, prodigy is know as excellent too.
