prodigy 7.1lt, no sound after playing a game

hi,

every time i enable qsound to play a game, after playing that game and disabling qsound, i have no sound anymore.

foobar's kernel stream plugin says "ERROR (foo_out_ks) : KS output error: error opening device."

media player and any other app have no sound either. after a reboot it seems to be fixed, until i play a game again.

what is this?

thx

what is the game? Sounds to me like it is failing to 'dismount' the audio output

There's a quite simple solution to that "problem" of yours.
Stop using kernel streaming and use the perfectly fine WaveOut or DirectSound like a sane person would do.
Stay sane, exile.

It's a solution of course, but if you want bit-perfect output then kernel streaming has its uses.  I'm a user of it myself.
Nero AAC 1.5.1.0: -q0.45

Just use QSound all the time... it doesn't really impact the quality or anything (it doesn't resample).

Besides that you can only bug the support people that you want it fixed, but this issue is there for a long time.

actually, i'm running 1.007 from february 2005 as that's the latest on audiotrak.net. i never had the idea to look on the korean homepage.

thanks, i will try these. i hope they are in english..

edit: they seem to be just a bunch of files packed into a zip file. there's no installer, the readme is in korean. so what am i supposed to do with these? just copy the files over the old ones? looking at the version history (also in korean) hints to nearly a dozen versions which never appeared on the english website. this doesn't look professional..

Here's an installer package. You can update the version without the installer through the device manager.

thanks.

to conclude this: the updated driver didnt help either. what works is disabling the soundcard in the device manager and enabling it again. at least that saves the need to reboot.
