How do you pronounce "Karhunen" and "Loeve"?

Those who have studied transform coding will know about the Karhunen-Loeve transform (KLT) as the most optimal transform for minimising MSE when scalar quantising Gaussian-correlated vectors.  But I've always referred to it as just the KLT, not even attempting to pronounce it

Anyway, I'd like to know the correct way of pronouncing Karhunen and Loeve.  Thanks.

I think the finish Kari Karhunen is pronounced as you write him (Kar-hu-nen) and Michel Loève is pronounced as Loeff (since I'm not french, I'm not 100% sure )

Karhunen basically has latin pronounciation. Adapted for english it's sharp 'k' (no 'h' sound in it), short 'a', sharp 'r' and short 'e'.

Kar is like comedy-Irish pronounciation of Car but as said with sharp 'k' and short 'a' and sharp 'r'. The 'u' is like 'ou' in You but shorter. Nen is like 'ne' in Network with an additional 'n'. After putting these pieces together try to pronounce it as fast as you can and you're pretty close

Thanks for the replies  I think I can handle pronouncing Karhunen now.  But I'm still not too sure on the Loeve though
