lame_enc.dll versions

Hi Guys
My question is about lame_enc.dll.
After downloading the latest version I asked myself: “How many of those dll’s do I have?”. The answer is – 7 and all different versions and ages! 3 of them on drive C: including ../System32 dir and 4 of them on drive D, where I’m testing new Audio Software(s). So for every program capable of MP3 encoding I have this dll.
Is this a normal practice? Would it be possible to have just one, say, in system path for maintaining the latest version? Or it will just bring some compatibility/interface/other implications for particular programs.
Thanks in advance

I don't see why you couldn't just delete all of them and put one in your path somewhere (windows/system32 or whatever).
