OGG in MKA?

Hi all,

According to http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=19015, one can make a single MKA from an entire CD. That's exactly what I want to do, but not with FLAC !! (I got all my music stored as 160kbps OGG).

I've tried to follow the steps indicated, but with a single OGG instead of a single FLAC. The result is quite bad: I can't seek in the album ! (with Foobar, strangely these MKAs work well with my BetaPlayer-powered Smartphone).

Does anybody has some starting points for what I want to do ? Does there exist a wonderful software that does the job ?

Thanks for your replies.

OGG is a container format, so i guess you want to put vorbis into matroska, and not one container into another...

Yep. Sorry for the common mistake

Certainly... can you embed the cover arts into a chained ogg ? Because in fact that's the feature I want most

Isn't the .mka designed for this usage? Or perhaps should I use another codec than OGG Vorbis (but no lossless codec as FLAC, I don't have so much space) ?

You can't.

So, to conclude, am I on the right path trying to use MKA ?

I desperately need to store a whole album in a single file, with the front cover as a nice thumbnail

I'll keep trying anyway...

Vorbis in MKA is my favourite for most of my one-file-one-album backups, and i love it. The problem with seeking in foobar2000 doesnt exist here ... what matroska plugin are you using ?

Please note the latest one from Toff hasnt included in the official fb2k installer yet, you might give it a try. What mkvmerge version are you using to mux your file ? Here a link for the latest plugin : http://christian.matroska.org/foobar2000/

For the moment I have the latest "full" foobar (no custom matroska plugin) and the latest MMG. I'll try with your link and post some feedback. Thanks

Stop nitpicking, we already clarified that he is talking about Vorbis in matroska, not Ogg  .....

Well, it works, finally. Vorbis in Matroska rules !! Seeking is just fine, I still need to find the good name for the front cover to show it as a thumbnail in explorer (maybe folder.jpg or cover.jpg or front.jpg, I'll try) -- but that's minor work.

(thanks ChristianHJW, the plugin you adviced me works fine -- krmathis was wrong).

Let's do some mass converting now... a long work in perspective...

{edit} Well, I said it works well, but I found a strange thing in the Matroska Shell extension - File properties dialog. The first song is #1, but the second is the first subchapter of the first song (1-1), and so on until the end (1-1-1-1-1-1)... What's that ?? Shouldn't I have chapters 1, 2, 3... instead of 1, 1-1, 1-1-1, ... ??? Can it be that it comes from the .cue extracted by EAC ?

I just saw the same issue myself with FLAC inside MKA. Mosu over at #matroska told me it was a bug in matroskaprop. mkvinfo shows the chapters properly.

BTW, I love this new foo_matroska. It even maps the album performer to ALBUM ARTIST. My only gripe is it doesn't map DATE_RELEASED to DATE.
