Sync Audio broadcasting in a LAN

Hi,
I'd like to achieve basically one thing :
When I play some audio on one computer, I want it to be played in a sync way on all other computers, if necessary by retarding the sound on the host computer, so that all the computers are synchronous.

All those computers are running WinXP.

thanks for any help provided.

The internet radio would be a solution.  Google has some useful suggestions.  Then when your ready point each computer link to
Code: [Select]
http://192.168.1.108/current_song.mp3
the ip address would be the host computer.

This is the only vague solution I can conjure up.  Other then that I don't know.

Wouldn't really work. The lag on the local machine / server is always smaller than the lag to other machines, so that the others will always be 2-3 seconds behind the main machine, event is all are launched simluatenously. I should know, I've been trying to get to this....
Pretty much given up on it too.
At the end of the day I'll probably get me a nice system from Sonos such as their ZonePlayer. It's pricey and not perfect, but at least it's hassle-free. I'm just waiting for them to support FLAC and Vorbis, as well as ship to the UK, sometime around the end of 2005.

I suppose what you could do is not use the file server to play music and only the other machines, but the the switching is different from one machine to another, you're still going to have sync issues.

I shoud mention that I have two soundcards on the host computer.
Here is an update of what I have tried :

Use winamp+shoutcast to broadcast to all computers, including the host computer to the remaining soundcard : I didn't manage to get to choose the soundcards, it didn't work.

I tried VLC (VideoLan), it looks promising, but I can't get the radio to work. However, I was able to choose which soundcard I wanted to broadcast from, and it looked like there was the possibility to broadcast with FLAC !

I think I found some software to do the job, but it was for linux. (in [a href="http://linux-sound.org/netaudio.html]this list[/url]
