Bleep to sell lossless music downloads

If you bought a song from iTunes in the ALAC format, you would probably be able to burn it to CD and then simply rip it back in whatever lossless or lossy format you want. Since the source ALAC file was lossless, you wouldn't lose any quality in the conversion as far as I know... ...So wouldn't a burnable ALAC file kind of defeat the whole purpose of DRM? When you think about it, the only reason we don't burn and re-rip the AAC files is because they would lose quality in the conversion from one lossy format to another, but that problem wouldn't exist with a lossless file . Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong here. [a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=290341"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a] youre right, you could burn and rerip. using jhymn is just more convienent. besides, its such a cool program. you are also right about drm being kinda pointless. there will always be ways around it. i think that the big companies have already accepted that (if not, they will realize it soon). unfortunately, id say that the average user is unaware of the workarounds, and therefore will be subject to the limitations of drm'ed music. regardless, i just want itunes to offer music in alac, because i want to support my artists, but am sick of paying $15+ for a cd. but then again, could i trust apple's ripping techniques??? anyways, im just looking for progress.
