Real Audio specs?

I downloaded some free samples(actual full songs) in real audio format from Aimee Mann's website (www.aimeemann.com) from her new upcoming album. I was surprised how good they sounded compared to the usual real audio crap you can download as samples (please don't smack with the 8!). It was actually so good that I burned it as an audio-CD. I then ripped a song in wav for analysis. I'm no expert in this but at least I noticed the sound isn't clipped at 16 or 18 kHz but seems to exceed 19 kHz. The rough bitrate's around 1 MB per 1 minute.

What can you tell me of the codec/format used? I remember reading that RA would use AAC today. Is that true?

One direct link to a song is rtsp://real.sony.global.speedera.net/real.sony.global/RedMusic/AimeeMann/Beautiful.rm

I hope it's OK to post it as it is meant for streaming.

Actually just found that the Real player shows that the format is:

"RealAudio 8 with ATRAC3"

Thanks, quada. Being an MD user, I do know the ATRAC but as I was posting the original question I didn't know it was ATRAC that was used but thought it'd be something else (the mentioned AAC or something proprietary).

RealAudio 10 is AAC.
RealAudio 8 is either ATRAC3 (Sony's proprietary) or their own proprietary "cook".

It can also be the voice codec, ACELP.net.

The voice-codec is RealAudio 4 and 5. RealAudio 8 is only ATRAC3 and cook.

Good evening,

I did not know that the properties of the RA8 A3 conferred a listening audiophile to him.
I have make a test with 176 kbps, it was very touching.

But of the questions challenge me on this subject:

Is what one can say that Real 10 triumphs over the RA8 A3 to high bitrate?
Let us take this example: Real audio8 Atrac 3 to 352 kbps against audio Real audio 10 to 320 kbps

Atrac 3+ is it higher than the RA8 A3 and the RA10?
The atrac 3+ is it as audiophile as the RA8 A3?
Exist there a coder Atrac 3+, and where to find it?

Thank you in advance.
