This is EXACTLY the problem with this forum's format.  While new posts would bring useful information to the masses, we're forced to add a post to the end of a longer thread that may have been started years before.  I personally can't read the entire 49-page history of foo_ui_columns because I simply don't have time; if we don't peruse the entire history then we're blasted for not being research-minded.  While there IS a post regarding PlexTools 2.18, it's buried as post #22 of a thread entitled 'PlexTools Professional 2.04', started 20 Jun 2003 - and therefore no way for the common user to realize the fairly significant addition of FLAC support to the utilities without essentially knowing ahead of time that that feature was added...

'Meh' indeed.  There's no need to be arrogant about your superior knowledge of the active topics at HA. Perhaps you have a more constructive suggestion on how to bring this information to the group?

I just pointed out someone had already announced that, you halfwit.

I don't really mind people starting n threads to announce every new version of Plextools that goes out every two months, annoying as they are.

What bothers me is people not doing a quick and easy search to check if something wasn't already announced before going straight to "News Submissions".

has anyone noticed that the compression ratio is much less than using the commandline or foobar builtin version both using setting compression 8.
Builds from flac are different but the bitrate should not be this far out.

example below:
Hybrid - [Wide Angle] I Know [8:32]

direct rip from plextools using quality 8:
FLAC_vendor = reference libFLAC 1.1.1 20041001
bitrate = 1282
samplerate = 44100
channels = 2
bitspersample = 16
codec = FLAC
----------
22599780 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 82 134 293 bytes

foobar convert from plextools ripped wav using quality 8:
FLAC_vendor = reference libFLAC CVS 20040316
bitrate = 946
samplerate = 44100
channels = 2
bitspersample = 16
codec = FLAC
----------
22599780 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 60 609 148 bytes

direct rip from plextools using quality 0:
FLAC_vendor = reference libFLAC 1.1.1 20041001
bitrate = 1310
samplerate = 44100
channels = 2
bitspersample = 16
codec = FLAC
----------
22599780 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 83 939 243 bytes
