APE to MP3?

help?
Okay though new, am I slow?  Monkey Audio Help says that I can CONVERT APE to MP3 using LAME.

It says to put LAME into Monkey Audio directory. I did.  Then it says to put the LAME output commands (-b 96 -m j -h -c -V 5 -B 192) into Monkey Audio.

HELP!  I can not figure out where to put these commands into Monkey Auidio?  I have been through every menu option several times.  I did not see where I can or how to tell Monkey to convert to MP3 using LAME?

Please Help!!!

I can, for now decompress in Monkey Audio, then use EAC w/LAME profile to convert to MP3, when needed to download to an MP3 player.  I was trying to save a few steps.  I thought Foobar could do it, but I see Foobar is only a player(?).

Foobar2000 is not just a player it can also do other various tasks with your music files.

To convert your files to LAME MP3 you need to make sure you have the CLI encoder component installed and LAME.exe must be in your main Foobar directory.

Then go to "components --> diskwriter" in the preferences and select one of the LAME output presets. Usually most people around here will recommends "--alt preset standard"

Add the tracks you want to convert to your playlist and select them. Then right click on them and select "Convert --> run conversion".

Foobar only has four options under components: Show Console, Record, Play, and Playlist.

I did find and unzip the cli encoder.  However, in Foobar, there was No choice for diskwriter.  I did install default of "Normal" . . .?

Just go easy way and get a special installer with all rings and bells.
Diskwriter is there too

Check the preferences if you can find diskwriter options there. It is not supposed to be in the components menu.
When you have the settings right, you just select the files you want to convert and choose from the right-click menu Convert -> Run conversion.

foobar can do it using the [a href="http://www.foobar2000.org/components.html#foo_diskwriter]diskwriter component[/url].

Are you still ripping to individual APE tracks?

If so, I think you should consider my suggestion of looking at MAREO.  This would allow you to rip to APE and MP3 at the same time from EAC.

That's fine later, when I have new CDs to rip.  Right now I do not want to take up space with both APE and MP3.  MP3 are for later (Christmas?) when I get an MP3 player.  Right now i have only APEs after ripping only the 3 dozen CDs I own.  So i was thinking about later on when I want to creae the MP3s and I only have the APE files.

I did check preferences, and diskwriter is a compoment that is installed.  The previous poster led me to believe that it was a menu choice off of the COMPONENTS menu.

Thanks!

Ah, OK.  Best of luck with Santa

Using foobar's Disk Writer component you will be able to load up all your APE files and convert them in one go.  If you decide how you want to format the folder/file names of the MP3s I'm sure you can get some help on creating a format string for Disk Writer that will convert all the tracks and name/file them exactly as you wish.

Hopefully this screenshot will help.

Please consult the recommended LAME settings page in the MP3 section of these forums for proper usage of LAME settings.
