DivX AVI with Nero Digital Audio

I got a movie but there's no audio when I play it back. WMP9 says that the audio codec is Nero Digital Audio Decoder. I guess I lack the codec? I have OEM version of Nero6 bundled with my retail drive (it includes full versions of Nero Express, InCD, Nero Cover Designer, StartSmart, some tools and guides), so I guess that with my current license-key the codec is turned off?
Is there a way I can get audio from that movie legally free? Some 3rd party codec? Or maybe demuxing it, transcoding audio with some free tool to other format (if it's AAC then foobar2000 would do the job, but is it AAC?), and muxing it back?

Did you check the file with gspot and what it says?

I've just downloaded gspot and it says that the audio codec is ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc, codec is installed and Nero Digital Audio Decoder should be capable of processing this format, DircetShow was also able to find a codec to render it, audio stream is 192 kb/s (96/ch, stereo) CBR, 48000 Hz.
Hmm, then it's AC3, but why Nero Digital Audio Decoder is used? I also have PowerDVD 5 and I guess that its codec should be used? I tried to play this movie in it but there's still no sound.

You should install AC3Filter.

You can get version 0.70b here.

You can get 1.01a RC5 here.  Be aware, this is essentially beta software.  If you are uncomfortable installing it, you should use the 0.70b version.  However, 101a has many new features including DTS decoding.

Thanks for that, but can you also tell me why I get no sound with my current codecs? Shouldn't codec coming from PowerDVD 5 be able to decode AC3? I have no problems playing DVD movies. Maybe it's something like PowerDVD 5 codec having lower priority than Nero codec (of which functionality is disabled due to my current Nero license)?

It didn't change anything, so I tried:
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\neaudio.ax"
Then WMP ceased to identify the audio codec at all. Any ideas why PowerDVD 5 codecs don't want to bite that file?

EDIT:
Ok, here is what I did: I installed AC3Filter 1.01a RC5, configured it to process PCM, AC3, DTS, MPEG Audio, PES (DVD), but set it to prefer other codecs. Then I unregistered Nero Digital Audio Decoder with regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\neaudio.ax". This way non-functional Nero codec is not used at all (it should be like that by default with non-full Nero licenses!), and AC3Filter is used only if other codecs fail to process the data. So, AC3 in movies from DVDs & MPEGs is processed by PowerDVD codecs, and AC3 from AVIs is processed by AC3Filter. Looks like PowerDVD codecs can't cope AVI.

You need to install Gabest's "AVI <-> AC3/DTS Filter" in order to use the Cyberlink audio decoder with AVI files.

Get the filter from here.
