CD > FLAC > MP3 > DVD-r/H120

I would like to know if there is a walkthrough available to achieve the following.

I have recently purchased an iRiver H120 as I am going travelling and would like to take my CD collection with me. Given my source, I am currently deciding between Ogg Vorbis Q6-7 or LAME 3.90.3 MP3 using EAC to rip. However, because I won't have access to my computer and may like to change codec/format in the future I would like to back up all off my ripped files in either WAV or FLAC on DVD media and take those overseas with me. This is also in case I have problems with my H120 whilst travelling. So basically this is what I would like to do:

* Rip files using EAC
* Convert to FLAC and burn to DVD
* Encode to Vorbis/MP3
* Place compressed files onto H120

Questions I have are:

* Which FLAC quality setting should I use?
* Which program will burn those FLAC files to DVD?
* What are the advantages of Vorbis against MP3 and vice versa?
* Can EAC encode to both FLAC and another format simultaneously or will I have to encode to FLAC and then convert the FLAC files to MP3?
* I would like to normalise my files so that they are all at the same relative volume level during playback. Can this be done during the ripping/encoding process or will I apply this later? Which program can I use to achieve this?

I would really appreciate any feedback that anyone might have. Thanks.

Here we go again  , almost of this is already answered in the forum, but whatever:

1 - I personally use Flac in high compression with no problems and save a few MB.
2 - Nero Burning Rom
3 - MP3 until now have more Hardware support, almost everything play MP3 nowadays, Vorbis Codec has more potencial and to many sounds better then MP3 at the same bitrate (see the tests).
4 - EAC encodes to any format you want (i think, or at least at many of them)
You can go from WAV - MP3 or WAV - FLAC - MP3 WICH is the same because FLAC is a lossless codec.

5 - I apply after with replaygain on Foobar2000 (the best player around), on MP3 you can use MP3Gain wich have a Gui.

Hope it helps
Sniff.
