AAC in wav container?

I wonder if it is possible to have aac in wav container? Is it supported by MicroSoft??

If someone makes an AAC ACM codec, it will work. alexnoe made a tool to pack AAC in AVI, you could use that and try to extract the AAC from the AVI with Virtualdub into WAV ..... dont know if this would work tough ...

Theoretically it shouldbe possible, but not feasible. You can only pack CBR Data into WAV. For VBR you have to padd with 0s. if you don't do it, it will get very off-standard. Furthermore there is no id for AAC in WAV, AFAIK. (I don't have the wav specs in my head anymore.)

The RIFF specs have some chapters about WAVE fileformat. It may contain some information.

Why whould someone put AAC in a wav file? My only thought is to break compatibility with everything else.

That is because, there is a MP3 in the wav specifications.. I thougth maybe the latest Microsoft Riff specs might provide for AAC.. I cannot be sure.. that is why I needed to verify this..

So, there is actually an official ID for AAC in the latest RIFF specs ??

Can I play back the AAC.wav file on any MS windows player?? Or do I need to add some dlls into the MS Windows Player??

No. I think those softwares linked to above use some self-defined ID.
