Are you encoding a mixdown of your own recordings?  Or are you just using audition as an encoder for audio CD's.

If you're trying to compress your own personal recordings, keep in mind that you should keep all files that you're going to be working with in audition in wav format until you have finished your project.  Otherwise sound quality will degrade from repeated compressions.  If you are trying to save a mixdown of a project to send to someone, you might want to consider compressing the final wav using some other program that utilizes lame mp3 encoder, as it will yeild higher quality.  Check the forum's faq or the knowledge wiki.

If you are using audition to compress audio cd tracks... well, you shouldn't be.  Once again, check the faq.
