*cough* tinra *cough*

it will convert any RM to AVI (so you might have an audio-only AVI) then extract with your favorite muxer.

(that's the only way i know how to do it on windows...)

perhaps mplayer works with the -dumpaudio -dumpfile duo

I think the first post is about how to convert/transcode RealAudio to MP3, not video.

dBpowerAMP Music Converter can do that if you use the realaudio plugin on their site (codec central). It works really slowly (x1 speed, maybe some limitation due to the RealAudio format?), takes a lot of cpu usage, but eventually it works.

please use "goldwave 5" with "real altanative" and "lame_enc.dll".

real media file: directshow input needs real altanative -> goldwave 5 can open directshow input as wave format (then extension has need to change .rm to .ra) -> mp3 file: goldwave 5 can output mp3 format with lame_enc.dll

goldwave
real altanative
lame 3.96, 3.95.1, 3.93.1 or 3.90.3

The Tara RealAudio plugin will allow Winamp to play RealAudio files.  One could then use the wave-out or MP3-out plugins to decode or transcode.  Processes faster than dBpowerAPM.

By the way, this is also a good method for capturing RealAudio streams.
